XUANJI 璇玑 — Chinese BaZi astrology, read from the classics

Four Pillars of Destiny · Zi Wei Dou Shu · Compatibility

XUANJI is a BaZi (Four Pillars of Destiny) calculator and a set of reference pages on classical Chinese metaphysics. Enter a birth date, time and longitude and the engine returns the four pillars, the hidden stems of each branch, the nayin, the twelve-stage placements, the ten gods and the luck-cycle pillars — with true solar time correction applied.

The reference pages are the part worth linking to. Every classical passage quoted on this site is taken from a local plain-text edition of the source — San Ming Tong Hui, Di Tian Sui, Yuan Hai Zi Ping — and a test checks each quotation character by character against that corpus before the page can ship. A line that cannot be found in the corpus does not go up.

The sixty day pillars

One page per day pillar: its position in the sixty-term cycle, the element of its stem and branch, its nayin, its hidden stems and its twelve-stage placement — plus what the classics actually say about it.

The ten day masters

Longer essays on the day master itself: what Jia wood, Yi wood, Bing fire and Ding fire mean as a day stem, argued from the source texts rather than from the usual English summaries.

Glossary

The vocabulary — heavenly stems, earthly branches, nayin, hidden stems, the twelve stages, the ten gods — with the Chinese characters kept alongside the English.

The calculator

The interactive chart calculator loads on this page and needs JavaScript. The reference pages linked above do not — they are plain server-rendered HTML and readable without it.
