Nayin 纳音 · sound element #30 of 30
The terminus of every water in the system: total capacity, and no direction left to go.

| Element of the image | 水 Water |
| Pillars it covers | 壬戌、癸亥 — Renxu and Guihai (pair #30 of 30) |
壬戌癸亥,天门之地,气归闭塞,水历遍而不趋,势归乎宁谧之位,来之不穷,纳之不溢,乃曰大海水也
Why the name: Renxu and Guihai, the ground of heaven's gate, the qi returns to being shut; the water has been everywhere and no longer hurries, the momentum settling to a seat of quiet, coming without exhausting and taking in without overflowing; hence Great Ocean Water.
大海水者,总纳百川,汪洋无际,包括乾坤之大,升沉日月之光
Great Ocean Water: it takes in all the hundred rivers, a vastness without shore; it encloses the greatness of heaven and earth, and the sinking and rising of the light of sun and moon.
Xu and Hai are the last two branches — the end of the sixty. 来之不穷,纳之不溢, coming without exhausting and taking in without overflowing, is the derivation defining the ocean by its capacity to absorb rather than by any motion of its own.
San Ming Tong Hui then splits the pair on a technical point: 壬戌有土气为浊,癸亥干支纯水而纳音又水,故清 — Renxu carries earth-qi and is therefore turbid, Guihai is pure water in stem, branch and nayin alike and is therefore clear. And it closes with the line that explains the whole image: 以海水不择细流,故能成其大 — the sea does not pick and choose among small streams, and that is how it becomes great.
